Location
Maasai Mara: Located in southwestern Kenya, the Maasai Mara is part of the larger Mara-Serengeti ecosystem. It borders the Serengeti National Park and offers seamless access to both regions. The Mara is easily accessible from Nairobi and a great option for those with limited time.
Serengeti: Spanning a vast area in northern Tanzania, the Serengeti is one of the most famous safari destinations globally. Known for its wide-open savannah and rich wildlife, the Serengeti requires a longer drive or flight from cities like Arusha but offers a broader, more diverse experience.
Maasai Mara: Known for its big cat population (lions, cheetahs, and leopards), the Mara offers excellent predator sightings. It’s also famous for the Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest and zebras cross the Mara River in a dramatic spectacle. The Mara River crossings are a key highlight during migration, usually between July and October.
Serengeti: The Serengeti is home to the world-renowned Great Migration as well. However, the Serengeti’s migration stretches throughout the year, with herds moving between different regions of the park. The Great Migration

Serengeti: The Serengeti is the core of the Great Migration, and it’s spectacular year-round, though different areas of the park are favored at different times. The best time to visit for migration action is between January and March, when calving occurs in the Southern Serengeti, and then again in July to October when the herds are in the Northern Serengeti and cross into the Mara.
