You’ll arrive in time for lunch, and in the afternoon, you’ll embark on a game drive in the park. After a final morning in the Serengeti, you will be flown out to Rubondo Island Camp on Lake Victoria. Rubondo Island Camp is the only camp on the island, and it overlooks the lake, surrounded by tropical forests. It’s an untouched haven where hippos and crocodiles sunbathe, and chimpanzees and monkeys populate the lush forest canopy.
One of your mornings will be spent setting out with a guide, a researcher, and a ranger to search for chimpanzees and be a part of the Rubondo Island National Park habituation program, a once-in-a-lifetime experience to be some of the first travelers to meet the island chimps.
The island offers a host of activities that include guided nature walks, safari-style game drives, and floating serenely on calm waters in a traditional dhow. Leisure hours are spent in utter relaxation, reclining poolside, or retreating to your private veranda with a chilled bottle of wine being serenaded by the sounds of the forest.
