Greetings in Tanzania! Upon your arrival at the airport, a representative from Rioba Safaris will
be there to welcome you and transport you to your lodging in Arusha. Depending on your arrival
schedule, there should be an opportunity to unwind and get ready for an incredible adventure!
Arusha, a bustling hub, is a vital aspect of the safari experience in northern Tanzania, and it's a
common stop for many travelers embarking on this exciting journey.
Accommodation:
Gran Melia Arusha
After breakfast, your safari guide will pick you up and drive approximately 2.5 hours to Tarangire National Park. Named after the Tarangire River, this park is famous for its large elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and abundant wildlife. During the dry season, the river serves as the main water source, attracting giraffes, bushbucks, hartebeest, and a variety of predators including lions and leopards. The park is also a haven for bird watchers, hosting more breeding bird species than anywhere else in the world. Enjoy lunch at a picnic site inside the park before continuing your game drive and then transferring to your nearby accommodation.
Accommodation:
Lake Manyara Kilimamoja Lodge
After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Manyara National Park, a small but diverse park.
Everything you’ll see here is on a different scale. It is both compact (this is one of the narrowest
parks in Africa) and epic (the Great Rift Escarpment towers over Lake Manyara’s western
boundary). The park’s namesake is a shallow, salt lake. It covers a large area of the park,
flooding and drying with the seasons and is home to thousands of wading birds (including
flamingos and over 500 other bird species). You may see baboon and elephant in the park’s thick
evergreen forest, and watch for the tree-climbing lions that have become famous throughout
Africa.
Accommodation:
The Retreat at Ngorongoro
After breakfast, you will drive up into the cooler regions of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
There will be a chance to stop and see the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater. You will then transit
through Ngorongoro Conservation Area to the Serengeti, entering at the South of the Park.
The Serengeti is truly spectacular. It is famous for its vast open grasslands which allow for
excellent sightings of wildlife. Whilst it boasts abundant wildlife, it is perhaps best known for the
annual Great Migration. Vast numbers of wildebeest; zebra and antelope move in an annual
pattern, constantly seeking fresh grazing.
Accommodation:
Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti
This entire day is set aside for game drives in the Serengeti. The Serengeti boasts an abundance
of wildlife such as impala, buffalo, crocodile, and hippo. In addition to the iconic landscapes,
you have a good chance of encountering predators and you may see lion, cheetah and leopard.
Depending on the location of the Great Migration, you may venture away from the Central
region to experience this natural wonder. It is a truly life-changing experience.
Accommodation:
Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti
After breakfast, drive from Serengeti National Park to the Ngorongoro Crater, a breathtaking wilderness hidden within steep volcanic walls. The crater features sweeping savannahs, acacia woodlands, lakes, and swamps, formed when a massive volcano collapsed millions of years ago. Descend to the crater floor for an afternoon of wildlife viewing, spotting wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and over 500 bird species. The area also offers a chance to see the endangered black rhino. After your game drive, continue to Arusha for dinner and overnight stay.
